How Ear Candling* Helps Your Immune System for Healing
By Charlotte Carreira, BS, MBA
We probably know more people than ever who have been dealing with some form of illness or long-standing condition. No one likes to be sick, but that illness is a sign that something is out of balance within the body and the immune system is stressed and not working as efficiently as it should.
So how does Ear Candling work to stimulate the Immune System?
Ear Candling is an ancient non-invasive complementary modality practiced in a variety of cultures since 2500 BC, to assist in the body’s own ability to drain, eliminate toxins and to enhance its own energy flow, specifically with the lymphatic system.
The ear contains approximately four thousand pores along with several thousand-nerve endings attached to points associated with organs, bones, muscles, and skin, which carry subtle energy flows that carry our life force. These pores run long and deep into our system connecting to our sinuses, skeleton, lymph nodes, eyes, and other parts of our body. The pores also connect to the cerumen gland, which produces earwax 24 hours a day to maintain balance between the outer, middle and inner ear. When there is an overabundance of earwax, the wax puts pressure on the nerve endings. The nerve ending then puts pressure on the body systems and deters it from potentially producing the essential nutrients necessary for our immune system to function optimally.
The gentle warming of the pores in the ear canal allows for an overall relaxation of ear, organ or systems associated with the pore connection. Ear Candling may contribute toward alleviating conditions ranging from tinnitus to allergies, swollen lymph nodes, candida, and ear-related symptoms that cause discomfort in the head, neck and shoulder regions.
In addition, Ear Candling may also detoxify the lymphatic system and thus clears the sinuses of congestion and discomfort associated with eye, ear, nose, and throat ailments. It may improve the clarity of hearing, sight, smell, touch, and taste.
Even more importantly, the practice stimulates the relaxation response within the whole body and can be uplifting, leading to a sense of well- being and contentment. With consistent practice, along with proper hydration, rest, exercise, healthy food choices, and organic whole food supplement nutrition, this procedure can contribute to the natural state of wellness the body is always seeking.
Many believe that the key purpose of candling is to remove wax buildup, especially the heavy impacted wax that normal cleaning cannot remove. In that respect, candling is a more comfortable and less expensive alternative to the traditional medical cleaning method of forcing water into the ear canal.
My professional perspective over so many years of research and practice, is that the warming of the pores in the ear creates a relaxation response that enhances drainage and provides a calming effect to the entire body.
Oftentimes clients come to me because of their allergies, but mostly because they feel their ears are blocked. Some of that is due to excess wax build up from lack of drainage. Sometimes it is the inflammation the body is dealing with and the referred discomfort shows up in the ears. Inflammation is an indication that there is congestion and blockage of energy throughout the body which can be due to dehydration, diet, stress and overuse of muscles and organs working extra heard to function normally. Ear candling is used as a complementary modality to enhance the focus of dietary and nutritional considerations as well as Whole Body wellness and lifestyle coaching I provide.
Ear Candling can be done anytime throughout the year, although many of my clients take advantage of the change in seasons to help the body to adapt.
Ear Candling as well as many healing modalities are NOT a one-time cure but with consistency overtime can bring balance and allow the body to create a new habit of healing versus stress and tension.

Come join us for a fun night of wine & treats. Featuring Artists Janina (Om Maker) Church & Tara
Janina’s love for creating began when her grandmother taught her how to hand stitch at the early age of 3. Since then, art has always been a part of her life. After studying art and design in college, she began selling her drawings, paintings at local art fairs and galleries. Janina has always felt most at home in nature. Her work is deeply inspired by organic textures and patterns of Mother Earth.
It took traveling overseas for local singer-songwriter to meet her match, the other half of the band, Vagabonds. Within a week of meeting, Tara and Gabriel were spontaneously composing the songs now recorded on their first album, “Phoenix.”
Recorded in a Santa Cruz mountains’ studio to sound like they are live in your living room, they offer you some musical food for thought.
