Europe Integrates Standard & Alternate Care: Focused on Healthy Breast Prevention
by Liz Koch
Innovative approaches in standard and alternative medicine are an integrated and vital part of the European health care tradition. Our friends on the other side of the puddle are utilizing methods and machines that we are only beginning to consider here in the states. Take energy medicine for example. Energy medicine or bioenergetic medicine are therapies that recognize and use a variety of energy fields such as electrical , magnetic, sonic, acoustic, microwave and infrared to screen and treat health conditions. Some of these techniques and devices date back thousands of years and include such systems as acupuncture, qi gong and homeopathy. While others magnetic resonance imaging, cardiac pacemakers, radiation therapy, ultraviolet light and lasers employ sophisticated highly technological devices.
Detecting and possibly correcting imbalances within the body’s energy field many such methods are able to recognize disturbances and imbalances long before a disease presents itself. As the old saying goes “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” Prevention is our best medicine and it is just such prevention that every woman (and man) wants when it comes to breast health. Women worry about their breasts and its said that breast cancer in men is on the rise. The breast has become a focus for general health care.
If an important part of detection is screening then our choices must also truly support prevention. Mammography and some other imaging modalities which require radiation, compression, contact, or intravenous injection have controversial health benefits and risks attributed to them.
So what is happening in Europe? THERMOGRAPHY a form of infra red technology developed by the military is being used for screening of breast health. “Infrared cameras and temperature measuring systems with analytic software can sometimes find problems with the breast up to 5 years before a problem such as cancer is found” say local health practitioner Dr. Daniel Beilin OMD, PhD. L.Ac. Having studied extensively with European scientists and physicians Beilin is one of an increasing number of practitioners interested in letting Americans know about European progress. “This was repeated in two studies in Canada and in Germany. 150 women were followed for ten years post thermography and the coincidence to tumor generation with abnormal temperature patterns in the breasts was accurate to 80%. When used in conjunction with mammography or MRI, the FDA has approved this method as being helpful in decision making for or against further invasive diagnostics such as biopsy.”
While mammography relies primarily on finding the physical tumor, thermography is based on detecting the new blood vessels and chemical changes associated with a tumor’s genesis and growth. Dr. William C. Amalu – Board Certified Clinical Thermologist on his web sitewww.breastthermology.com explains “By detecting minute variations in normal blood vessel activity, infrared imaging can frequently suggest a pre-cancerous state of the breast or the presence and early tumor that is not yet large enough to be detected by physical examination or mammography. “
A positive infrared scan may indicate the presence of other breast abnormalities. Daniel Beilin explains “cancer makes the news, but other breast ailments cysts, mastitis, benign tumors, fibrocystic breast disease are more likely.”
Once imbalances are found diet and lifestyle changes can help to correct and even restore health. European physician and Noble prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg discovered that cellular oxygen is a key factor in preventing cancer. Such simple preventative steps as eating turnip greens, kale, and Swiss chard all high in chlorophyll can help to enhance the circulation of oxygen at the cellular level. Dr Warburg work with cellular respiratory enzyme opened up new ways in the fields of cellular metabolism and cellular respiration. His work was based on normalizing body pH by making it less acidic and more alkaline. With an array of naturopathic physicians and health practitioner’s to guide educated choices, prevention has never been so easy. Drinking plenty of water and physical exercise Warburg recognized help bring more oxygen into the body.
As for Europe – stay tuned ….
